Mr Tom Betts

Mr Tom Betts is a highly regarded Consultant Ophthalmologist and Oculoplastic Surgeon who provides comprehensive eye care. He specialises in general ophthalmology, cataract surgery, and glaucoma management, with a particular subspecialty interest in oculoplastic surgery. His clinical focus encompasses a wide range of conditions affecting the eyelids, tear ducts, and eye sockets, including eyelid malposition, watery eyes, and skin lesions. He is dedicated to delivering patient-centred care, ensuring that individuals feel fully informed and comfortable throughout their treatment journey.

Mr Betts graduated with his medical degree (MBChB) from the University of Dundee in 2007. Following his graduation, he completed comprehensive postgraduate training in ophthalmology across Wales. To further refine his expertise, he undertook a subspecialty fellowship in oculoplastics and glaucoma in New Zealand, gaining international experience in complex eyelid, lacrimal, and orbital surgeries. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and an active member of the British Oculoplastic Surgical Society.

In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Betts holds significant leadership and academic roles. He serves as a Deputy Clinical Director of Ophthalmology and is the Ophthalmic Lead for a regional skin cancer multidisciplinary team, where he oversees the management of skin cancers around the eye. He is also committed to medical education, sharing his knowledge as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at a prominent university school of optometry and vision science.
