About Dr. Tahir Akbar
Dr Tahir Akbar is a Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist working at the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
He graduated in 2009 from the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry and completed gastroenterology specialist training in the Wessex region of the UK.
He undertook a fellowship in intestinal failure and clinical nutrition in Southampton. He has also completed a Master of Science in Medical Leadership through the Royal College of Physicians. In 2018, he was awarded “Young Gastroenterologist of the Year: Emerging Leader” by the British Society of Gastroenterology.
Dr Akbar is trained in and performs upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, colonoscopy, and small bowel capsule endoscopy independently.
