In 2018, he was awarded “Young Gastroenterologist of the Year: Emerging Leader” by the British Society of Gastroenterology.
Dr Akbar is trained in and performs upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, colonoscopy, and small bowel capsule endoscopy independently.

Dr Akbar has been absolutely amazing. After nearly 10 years of digestive struggles and seeing many consultants, he listened and supported and went all out to identify the problem with diagnostics, in a very quick and efficient manor. Issues were identified and a big leap forward on the recovery road and I am very grateful.
