Dr Steve Holmes

Dr. Steve Holmes is a Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience, having qualified in 2001. Over the years, she has supported individuals with a range of emotional difficulties, including Depression, Anxiety, and various physical symptoms such as Chronic Pain, M.E. / Chronic Fatigue, and Long Covid.

Dr. Holmes has worked in diverse NHS services, including roles focused on emotional well-being and pain management. Her most recent position was as the leader of a multidisciplinary team within Southampton’s renowned Chronic Pain Service, before transitioning to establish her independent practice.

In her independent service, Dr. Holmes tailors her approach to suit each individual, prioritising personalised care. She values building a warm and relaxed working relationship, which helps foster trust and enables quick identification of goals and treatment strategies. Her sessions often include discussion, identifying key issues, exploring the cause and effect of distress, and, when appropriate, incorporating physical movement to aid understanding and alleviate discomfort.

Dr. Holmes has completed significant additional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) (she is an accredited CBT therapist), Mindfulness-Based Therapies (PGDip), and Schema-Focused Therapy. She is also a Breathworks Mindfulness teacher. These qualifications are aimed at enhancing her ability to support individuals experiencing complex difficulties.

As the Director of The Salisbury Practice Ltd and The Salisbury Practice Stockbridge Ltd, Dr. Holmes leads the Clinical Team, working alongside committed practitioners to ensure high-quality care. She continues to participate in ongoing education, training, and supervision with colleagues.
