Dr Stephen Anthony Townley

Dr Townley studied Medicine at the University of Wales, College of Medicine, qualifying in 1993. They trained as an Anaesthetist in Wessex and Perth, Western Australia, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2002.

Dr Townley has a special interest in vascular anaesthesia and holds an honorary contract at the University Hospital Southampton. Their other speciality interest is total intravenous anaesthesia, and they have developed the Wessex total intravenous training course.

They are the lead author of a best-selling undergraduate anaesthetic pharmacology textbook and have created online educational material for trainee anaesthetists. They lecture on the Wessex primary and final FRCA courses.
