Our son was born with two ear tags. We were referred to a plastic surgeon by the NHS and had a very poor experience, with the surgeon using a completely outdated removal method which actually caused more issues and didn’t work. After some research we found Simon and booked an appointment. From the outset, Simon couldn’t have been more professional. He answered our many questions over email before the procedure. On the day, he made us feel at ease and explained what was going to happen clearly. The actual procedure was over quickly and Simon did a fantastic job. The scar is healing quickly and Simon has been checking in with us frequently to make sure it’s healing as expected. Being new parents and having a poor experience with the NHS, we are incredibly grateful to have found Simon and couldn’t reccomend him highly enough to any parents going through something similar.

My 16-year-old daughter was born with a large mole on her forearm that increasingly affected her self-esteem and confidence. She refused to wear short sleeves or to go swimming as she felt so self-conscious and embarrassed. I didn’t think we had any options to remove it; I knew the NHS couldn’t offer a “cosmetic” procedure and I worried about the cost and reliability of private practitioners. I came across these Google reviews for Simon and completed a contact form not expecting to hear back; but Simon himself responded within hours. In all our communications he achieved the perfect balance of relaxed friendliness and absolute professionalism, so that we felt completely confident to go ahead with the procedure. Simon was very kind and thoughtful when speaking to my daughter and knew exactly how to put her at ease. The procedure itself was unbelievably straightforward - there was no waiting, no fuss, no general anaesthetic. It felt like an everyday appointment, like going to the dentist! Being able to have the procedure in an NHS hospital was reassuring somehow, and although the private route was not an easy option for us, it was absolutely worth the money to get my daughter’s peace of mind back. We followed Simon’s aftercare advice carefully and now we’re a month down the line, everything is healing beautifully and my daughter has spent her entire summer allowance on sleeveless tops :) Thank you so much Simon for making this huge difference to her wellbeing.

My teenage daughter had been self-conscious about her prominent ears for a long time. After a lot of research, we got in touch with Simon. We sent photos first and then arranged a video consultation, where we discussed what my daughter was hoping for. Simon explained the procedure, including what to expect on the day, the aftercare and recovery. He then sent us more information and a summary of everything we had discussed, before we met in person to finalise the finer details of the surgery. It was all very reassuring and straightforward. When we arrived on the day of the surgery, everything felt relaxed and welcoming. Simon’s team were also wonderful. After the procedure, Simon came to explain how everything had gone and answer any questions. He contacted us again once we were home and encouraged us to keep him updated with emails and photographs, checking in with us regularly throughout her recovery. Simon gave us so much time and care, both in person and online, monitoring my daughter’s healing and making sure she was happy with the results – she was delighted! Simon is an exceptional surgeon and a genuinely kind person. The pinnaplasty has been life-changing for my daughter, and we are so grateful to Simon. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Simon's care for our daughter was amazing. From the initial contact, to the speed of booking her in, to the seamless communication, everything was very well handled. I think is important to note that Simon instilled trust both to us as parents and to our 8 year old daughter walking us through the procedure, potential risks, and how these will be managed. The aftercare was also excellent. Thanks Simon and the team!

My daughter was born with a skin tag (extra auricle) on her cheek. As the NHS waiting lists were so long, I decided to go private and chose Dr Simon Filson because of his specialist expertise in plastic surgery for children. We booked an online consultation through Evelina Hospital, where Dr Filson explained everything clearly and reassuringly. We decided to have the procedure done when she was 10 weeks old, as waiting until after three months would have meant requiring a general anaesthetic and potentially delaying the procedure until she was much older. A few days after the consultation, we went to Evelina for the procedure. From the moment we arrived, I knew I had made the right choice. Dr Filson was incredibly kind, calm and reassuring, and the whole procedure took around 30 minutes. The local anaesthetic was administered expertly, and I was able to feed my baby throughout while Dr Filson carefully removed the skin tag and put in the stitches. She didn’t even flinch! We were given some paraffin to apply afterwards, and around three weeks later the stitches fell away. We were absolutely amazed to see that there was no visible scarring at all. I honestly can’t imagine how much more difficult the process would have been if we hadn’t been able to have the procedure done so early. I’m absolutely delighted with the result and so grateful to Dr Filson for his care and expertise. He also kept in touch throughout the recovery period, which was incredibly reassuring, and he was genuinely lovely to deal with from start to finish. I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr Filson to...

I have no hesitation in recommending Simon for any surgical procedure, but specifically in my case removal of large keloid from the back of my left ear. I stumbled across Simon completely by chance/blind luck, at the beginning of a random online search to look into private treatment after being sadly let down by the NHS (my GP referred me to Dermatology, who then eventually escalated me to Plastics but did not contact me to book an appointment at all until some time after Simon had already carried out the procedure. I would have been waiting more than 6 months for an NHS appointment, with the keloid growing at an alarming rate and causing me great distress and discomfort.) Going private was a major decision for me, as I am not well off by any means, and was therefore very concerned about costs. However I was left with no choice thanks to the lack of concern and care from the NHS as a whole (GP and hospital). From Simon reaching out to me shortly after me first submitting an online enquiry form until the present day Simon has been super responsive throughout. Pricing was transparent and made clear from the outset. He is always available via email seemingly 24/7, particularly out of hours - which truly impressed me. The level of after care he offers is unsurpassed. From first contact I felt listened to for the first time, and provided with full reassurance that I was finally in the right hands. He explains everything and puts you at ease, whilst never making you feel less of a person. Whole procedure from start to finish was amazing, I can't fault it - and the results speak f...

We cannot thank Mr. Simon Filson enough for the incredible care he provided to our daughter, Amaka. She was treated for keloids on both of her ears, and from our very first consultation at Evelina London Children's Hospital, Mr. Filson was thorough, clear, and immensely comforting. He took the time to explain the entire procedure step-by-step, putting all our concerns at ease. The removal was a total success, but what truly sets Mr. Filson apart is his exceptional aftercare and dedicated follow-up. Amaka still constantly talks about how well she was looked after during her recovery. Mr. Filson is genuinely the best specialist we have ever encountered - his expertise, bed-side manner, and attentive follow-up care are second to none. If you are looking for a surgeon who combines outstanding surgical skill with compassionate, patient-centered care, Mr. Simon Filson and the team at Evelina London are world-class. Thank you for making such a positive difference in our daughter’s life!

My 4-week-old daughter had a small skin tag removed, and Simon explained everything perfectly and answered all of our questions beforehand. Any procedure involving your baby can make parents anxious, but Simon made the whole experience feel relaxed and reassuring. I was able to hold my baby while it was done, and she stayed asleep the entire time. The procedure itself only took a few minutes. Simon also kept in touch afterwards via email to make sure everything was healing well and that we were happy with how things were going. I couldn’t recommend him highly enough if you’re thinking of having this done.

We visited Simon to have my son’s accessory auricles (“cheek tags”) removed from his ear. I wanted to get them removed while he was still very young, so we had the procedure done when he was just 4 weeks old. Simon was fantastic from start to finish. He was incredibly friendly, bubbly, and immediately put me at ease. What really stood out was how relaxed and confident he was throughout the procedure – he was even singing along to the radio while performing it, which helped calm my nerves and made the whole experience feel much less daunting. The procedure itself was super quick, and amazingly, my baby slept through the entire thing! I’m now uploading a photo at 7 weeks old, and the result looks great. The area has healed really well, and I’m so glad I decided to have it done. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Simon to anyone considering this procedure for their child. Professional, reassuring, and excellent results. Thank you, Simon!

Our son had difficulty with feeding/latching and sticking his tongue out since birth. After the first night, I questioned several times whether he may have had a tongue tie. He was born via emergency forceps and it was presumed by multiple members of hospital staff that his difficulties feeding were due to a stiff jaw/shoulders, and being first time parents, we just accepted that this is the way it is and got on with it! As a result of his birth method and his difficulties feeding (and lots of pain for me!), we sought advice and support from a private Osteopath/lactation consultant who eventually found, at nearly 9 weeks old, that he had a posterior tongue tie. I was advised to go to the local NHS feeding clinic for the infant feeding specialists to carry out a tongue-tie assessment with him and they find he was scoring as borderline for a referral to ENT for a frenectomy. However, the NHS would be unlikely to do anything about it despite his difficulties which is when we decided to look at private options. I was advised by the NHS infant feeding specialist that this procedure could be carried out by a range of people, including those without the qualifications to do so. Therefore, the main criteria for us was that it was an expert based in a hospital who would be able to give a second opinion on whether a frenectomy would be suitable for him. After a quick Google search, the Evelina hospital came up as a hospital with an excellent reputation for this procedure, however living in Warrington we wanted to ensure we were doing the right thing. I decided to ring and speak to ...
