Dr Simon Drysdale

Dr Simon Drysdale is a dedicated Consultant Paediatrician and Specialist in Paediatric Infectious Diseases and Immunology. Committed to providing high-quality healthcare for infants, children, and young people, he manages a wide range of general paediatric conditions alongside complex childhood infections and immune system disorders. Dr Drysdale combines deep clinical expertise with an empathetic approach, ensuring that young patients and their families feel supported, informed, and reassured throughout their treatment.

Dr Drysdale completed his medical degree in London, qualifying with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2003. Furthering his academic and clinical expertise, he earned a PhD in Paediatrics from King's College London in 2011 and a Postgraduate Diploma in Paediatric Infectious Diseases from the University of Oxford in 2016. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). He also holds prominent leadership and advisory positions within key professional bodies, including serving as co-chair for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health specialty advisory committee and as a board member for the European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases.

Throughout his career, Dr Drysdale has developed a strong focus on paediatric virology, vaccinology, and infection prevention. His clinical interests centre on understanding and managing viral respiratory conditions, particularly Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), alongside pertussis, cytomegalovirus, COVID-19, and perinatal infections. As an active researcher and Chief Investigator on major clinical trials, he contributes to advancing new immunisations, monoclonal antibody therapies, and diagnostic strategies designed to protect young patients from infectious diseases.
