Mr Shilajit Ghosh

Mr Shilajit Ghosh is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon with extensive experience in thoracic surgery, having been appointed as a consultant in 2007. He completed his MBBS in 1992 and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1997. His clinical interests include thoracic surgery, with particular expertise in lung cancer surgery, chest wall surgery, and minimal access surgery. He has also developed specialist experience in the management of chest wall and mediastinal tumours, pleural disease and thoracic trauma.

Mr Ghosh has held leadership and educational responsibilities within cardiothoracic surgery, including the Clinical Lead role for Thoracic Surgery and the Training Programme Director role for Cardiothoracic Surgery in the West Midlands. He has also contributed to specialist surgical education and training through the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery.

His clinical practice encompasses the assessment and surgical management of a broad range of thoracic conditions, including malignant and non-malignant disease affecting the lungs, pleura, mediastinum and chest wall. His specialist interests in minimally invasive techniques and airway interventions complement his experience in complex thoracic surgery. Through his clinical, leadership and educational roles, Mr Ghosh has contributed to the delivery and development of thoracic surgical services and specialist training.
