Dr Sheba Basheer

Dr Sheba Basheer is a highly accomplished Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in treating musculoskeletal conditions in children and young people. Based in Birmingham, she has a dedicated tertiary practice focusing on lower limb children's orthopaedic surgery. Dr Basheer is deeply committed to providing reassuring, patient-centred care, ensuring that young patients and their families feel supported throughout their treatment journeys. Her clinical practice encompasses a wide range of paediatric conditions, with a particular focus on restoring mobility and function.

With extensive expertise in paediatric trauma and elective orthopaedics, Dr Basheer has a special interest in paediatric knee, foot, and ankle surgery. Her areas of clinical focus include the management of soft tissue knee injuries, patellofemoral instability, and congenital cruciate ligament deficiency. She is highly skilled in performing advanced surgical procedures, such as quadriceps autograft for medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction. Through her precise and compassionate approach, she helps children overcome complex joint and ligament issues, enabling them to return to their active daily lives.

Dr Basheer completed her medical degree, obtaining her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) alongside a Bachelor of Science with Honours (BSc Hons). She completed her Specialist Registrar training within the Yorkshire Deanery and went on to secure prestigious specialist fellowships in knee surgery. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery) and holds full registration with the General Medical Council. Alongside her clinical work, Dr Basheer is a passionate educator, having served as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Leeds, an Educational Lead for Orthopaedics, and an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Instructor. She has also contributed to medical literature, authoring chapters in key postgraduate orthopaedic textbooks.
