Dr Saud Khawaja

Dr. Saud Khawaja is a highly accomplished Consultant Interventional Cardiologist with extensive experience in both clinical practice and academic research. He holds dual Certificates of Completion of Training (CCT) in Cardiology and General Internal Medicine, obtained in 2023. Dr. Khawaja is recognised for his expertise in interventional cardiology and has held prominent roles in leading NHS trusts and internationally renowned institutions.

With a strong academic background, Dr. Khawaja earned an MSc in Interventional Cardiology from Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Italy and MD(Res) from Imperial College London. He is a Member of both the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) and has successfully passed the European Exam in General Cardiology (EEGC). Further enhancing his profile, Dr. Khawaja has completed an Executive Leadership programme at Cornell University.

Currently serving as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Dr. Khawaja is deeply involved in clinical practice and research. He specialises in advanced interventional procedures, including coronary artery and structural intervention (TAVI).

Dr. Khawaja has also held roles as a Clinical Research Fellow at Imperial College London and as a Fellow in Interventional Cardiology at Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan, Italy. His clinical experience spans various NHS trusts, including East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust and Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals where he provided comprehensive cardiac care to a diverse patient population.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Khawaja is actively involved in medical education. He has organised several high-profile cardiology courses, including the annual Imperial Valve and Cardiovascular Course. He has also led training programmes such as the North East Cardiology Education Programme and the Northern Cardiology Simulation Course. His dedication to teaching future generations of cardiologists highlights his passion for advancing knowledge in the field.

Dr. Khawaja’s contributions to cardiology extend to professional memberships in several esteemed organisations, including the British Cardiovascular Society, the British Heart Valve Society, and the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society. He is also an active member of the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Surgeons.
