Dr. Sanjay Kuravinakop

Dr. Sanjay Kuravinakop is a Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthetics with extensive experience in the assessment and management of acute and chronic pain conditions. He has been a consultant in Pain Medicine at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust since 2013 and completed his specialist anaesthetic training through the Barts and London School of Anaesthesia, subsequently joining the specialist register in 2013. His advanced training was focused on pain management, leading him to sub-specialise in chronic pain medicine.

Dr. Kuravinakop manages a broad range of pain conditions using a multimodal and multidisciplinary approach, combining non-interventional and interventional techniques according to individual patient needs. His approach involves aiding patients in understanding the cause of their pain and inviting them to participate in decisions about their treatment.

His interventional practice includes epidural injections, facet joint procedures, radiofrequency procedures, selective nerve root blocks, sacroiliac joint injections as well as peripheral nerve blocks for conditions affecting areas such as the head, shoulder and knee. He also uses a thorough diagnostic and assessment process before tailoring treatment to the individual patient and works collaboratively with surgical and allied-health colleagues, including physiotherapists and manual therapists.

Dr. Kuravinakop has also contributed to pain medicine research and medical literature, including co-authorship of peer-reviewed international research examining treatment-related issues in patients receiving long-term opioid therapy for chronic non-malignant pain. He has presented posters at international meetings and has participated as a guest speaker at local and international meetings.
