Mr Salah Al Buheissi

Mr Salah Al Buheissi is a Consultant Urological Surgeon with a sub-specialist interest in open, laparoscopic and robotic surgery for kidney and retroperitoneal conditions, including testicular cancer and sarcoma, as well as andrology. He manages complex renal cancers using advanced surgical techniques and is recognised as one of the highest-volume surgeons in his region.

He completed his basic surgical training in London before undertaking a research project at the Institute of Cancer Research, one of the world’s leading cancer research institutions. This work led to the award of an MD (Doctor of Medicine) degree from the University of London. He then completed specialist training in urology in the South West of England and further enhanced his expertise by visiting the Cleveland Clinic in the United States and Innsbruck in Austria to develop advanced skills in robotic and laparoscopic surgery.

Mr Al Buheissi has particular expertise in nephron-sparing surgery and is one of the few surgeons in the UK performing minimally invasive (keyhole) post-chemotherapy retroperitoneal lymph node dissection for testicular cancer. Alongside his work in complex renal oncology, he treats a wide range of urological conditions and has a special interest in andrology, performing corrective surgery for penile curvature and penile implant surgery for erectile dysfunction.

He is currently the Lead for Training and Education at the Bristol Urological Institute and is responsible for overseeing the Fellowship Training Programme.
