Dr Rosemary Abara

Dr Rosemary Abara is a highly dedicated Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist who is committed to providing exceptional care for infants, children, and young people. Specialising in both general paediatrics and neonatal medicine, she focuses on delivering compassionate, evidence-based clinical care. Her practice is centred on supporting families and ensuring the best possible health outcomes for her young patients, particularly those requiring specialised neonatal support.

Dr Abara obtained her primary medical qualification, a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, in Nigeria. She went on to pursue postgraduate training with the West African Postgraduate Medical College of Paediatrics before completing her UK specialist training within the London (Thames) Deanery, where she qualified as a Neonatologist. In 1994, she completed postgraduate training with the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom. She is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.

Throughout her career, Dr Abara has developed significant expertise in several complex areas of neonatal and paediatric care. Her clinical interests include the care of infants born to substance-misusing mothers, the prevention of antenatal communicable diseases in pregnancy, and managing the mother-to-child transmission of blood-borne viral infections. Additionally, she is highly skilled in therapeutic hypothermia for the management of perinatal asphyxia, as well as the monitoring and early intervention of infants at risk of adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes.
