About Dr Peter Swoboda
Dr Peter Swoboda is a Consultant Cardiologist with a specialist interest in cardiovascular imaging, currently practising across Harrogate and Leeds. He qualified in medicine (MB BS) from the University of London in 2005 and became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP UK) in 2008. He was later awarded a PhD from the University of Leeds in 2016.
Alongside his clinical role, Dr Swoboda is an Associate Professor at the University of Leeds, where he leads a research group focused on advanced cardiac MRI technologies. His work aims to improve the detection and management of a range of cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathy, and heart failure. He also leads sports cardiology research, with a particular focus on understanding abnormal heart rhythms in athletes.
Dr Swoboda has extensive experience in assessing and treating athletes of all levels, particularly those with existing or newly identified cardiac conditions. His clinical expertise includes the evaluation of symptoms such as chest pain, breathlessness, and palpitations, as well as the management of atrial fibrillation, hypertension, and coronary artery disease. The appointment was Monday 21st September and I did complete the review afterwards,but Internet problems may have deleted it. Dr Swoboda was ahead of time for the appointment, he detailed clearly and in a straightforward manner the options for treatment and allowed time for discussion and possible outcomes. He will be referring to research consultant for possible treatment if selected and review at scheduled time.

Saw the consultant who put me at ease, he was really helpful and explained the proposed treatment very well, I felt better knowing what was going to happen.

Everything spoke about was answered by Dr Swoboda, and explained well, he has a lovely manner and very pleasant to speak to,
Very polite and friendly manner . In formative and wasn't kept waiting.
Dr Swoboda was excellent. He explained everything in a way that myself and my daughter could understand. I was at ease as soon as I sat down with Dr Swoboda. My daughter asked several questions and Dr Swoboda took time to answer them all.
Dr Swoboda was first of all interested in knowing how I was and what best medication I should take. Disappointed I had not had a MRI and organised this to be done in Leeds this week. All staff in reception and taking blood pressure were marvellous. Great job.
