About Dr Peter Swoboda
Dr Peter Swoboda is a Consultant Cardiologist with a specialist interest in cardiovascular imaging, currently practising across Harrogate and Leeds. He qualified in medicine (MB BS) from the University of London in 2005 and became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP UK) in 2008. He was later awarded a PhD from the University of Leeds in 2016.
Alongside his clinical role, Dr Swoboda is an Associate Professor at the University of Leeds, where he leads a research group focused on advanced cardiac MRI technologies. His work aims to improve the detection and management of a range of cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathy, and heart failure. He also leads sports cardiology research, with a particular focus on understanding abnormal heart rhythms in athletes.
Dr Swoboda has extensive experience in assessing and treating athletes of all levels, particularly those with existing or newly identified cardiac conditions. His clinical expertise includes the evaluation of symptoms such as chest pain, breathlessness, and palpitations, as well as the management of atrial fibrillation, hypertension, and coronary artery disease. Dr Swoboda was very pleasant and easy to talk to. He took the time to listen carefully to my concerns and answered all of my questions comprehensively. I specifically contacted Dr Swoboda because of his background in sports medicine, which was particularly relevant and helpful given my condition. I found his knowledge and understanding of the needs of an active sports person very reassuring. Overall, I was extremely pleased with the consultation and would have no hesitation in recommending Dr Swoboda.
