Dr Nihal Kenawy

Dr Nihal Kenawy is a Consultant Ophthalmologist who provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care for patients with complex eye conditions. Specialising in medical retina, ocular oncology, and paediatric retinal disorders, she works to preserve and restore visual function through evidence-based practice. Her broad clinical scope includes the evaluation and management of retinal vascular disorders, diabetic eye disease, intraocular tumours, and inflammatory eye conditions.

Dr Kenawy completed her postgraduate medical research degree (MD/PhD) at the University of Liverpool. She undertook advanced sub-specialty fellowship training in adult ocular oncology, honing her expertise in evaluating and managing rare and complex ocular malignancies. Demonstrating high standards of clinical excellence, she holds prestigious postgraduate qualifications, including Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) and Fellowship/Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Alongside her clinical duties, she serves as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer, teaching future eye care specialists and acting as an examiner for professional medical colleges.

Recognised for her research contributions, Dr Kenawy actively investigates ocular melanocytic lesions, retinal sensitivity, and advanced laser photocoagulation techniques.
