About Dr. Nekma Meah
Dr Nekma Mila Meah is a Consultant Dermatologist with a specialist interest in the management of alopecia and scalp disorders. She achieved her medical degree (MBChB) from the University of Manchester in 2007 and went on to undertake her foundation training in the West Midlands before starting her specialist dermatology training programme in Liverpool. She qualified as a Consultant Dermatologist in 2017.
Dr Meah undertook an international fellowship in hair and scalp disorders under Professor Rodney Sinclair in Australia, and has published extensively in this area. She runs a specialist hair clinic at St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust and is currently the Honorary Secretary of the British Hair and Nail Society.
In her post as Consultant Dermatologist at St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust, she sees all aspects of general dermatology including medical dermatology (acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, hyperhidrosis), skin cancers, mole checks, as well as performing regular dermatological surgery. In addition to running the specialist hair clinic, she manages patients in the specialist biologics clinic for patients with severe psoriasis.
Dr Meah is passionate about dermatology, teaching and research. She is Undergraduate Lead at St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust, Honorary Clinical Lecturer at The University of Manchester and serves on the steering committee for the global COVID-19 alopecia registry – SECURE alopecia.

Dr Meah was compassionate and made me feel listened to. She gave me several options in terms of further investigations and possible treatment, so I felt like I had agency and control. My recent appointment with Dr. Meah was a follow-up to my initial consultation in December 2024. I really appreciate that she takes the time to explain things clearly and is always patient and happy to answer any questions. I have a 176 mile round trip to get to the hospital, but it’s well worth it after a disappointing experience with another dermatologist closer to home. Dr. Meah is brilliant - I couldn’t recommend her more highly.

Dr Meah is an expert in her field and started me on special medicated shampoo, steroid lotion and a lifelong meditation to help me manage the condition. With improvement on this combination of treatment alongside wearing some hair extensions, I feel so much brighter in myself. It has been life changing and I can’t thank her enough for all of her guidance and monitoring throughout the treatment plan.
Dr Meah is the best of the best and her knowledge of hair disorders is second to none. I did a lot of research beforehand and although there was a short wait to see her, it was definitely worth it. I have recommended her to friends as I have been incredibly impressed with my treatment plan. Dr Meah is such a wonderful Dermatologist for hair disorders and I would definitely see her again.
