Mr Lutfi Shamsuddin

Mr Shamsuddin is a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at the University Hospital of Wales, a tertiary endometriosis referral centre in Cardiff. He also consults at Nuffield Health Cardiff Bay and Nuffield Health Vale Hospital.

He has specialist interests in the following areas:

• Benign Gynaecology
• Pelvic pain
• Minimal Access Surgery
• Endometriosis
• Menstrual Disorders
• Endometriosis
• Gynaecological ultrasound

His particular interest is in endometriosis, and he is a registered BSGE Endometriosis Surgeon.

Mr Shamsuddin graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2004 with his medical degree. He went on to train in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the North East of England before undertaking postgraduate training in gynaecological minimal access surgery at the University of Surrey. He is currently involved in teaching post graduate doctors and is on the Wales Deanery training committee. He has also previously held the role of RCOG College Tutor.

Mr Shamsuddin has won awards and prizes for his research work and presented at both national and international conferences. He is a committee member of the BSGI and a member of the BSGE.

Outside of the hospital, Mr Shamsuddin is a keen cyclist; in 2018, he took the scenic route to the annual BSGE summit by cycling from London to Edinburgh with his team, whilst raising money and awareness for a women's charity.
