Miss Helene Stevenson

Miss Helene Stevenson is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in conditions affecting the shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist. Her practice includes arthroscopic shoulder surgery for impingement, rotator cuff disease and tears, and shoulder instability, as well as shoulder and elbow joint replacement. She also treats hand and wrist conditions including Dupuytren’s disease, osteoarthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome.

After graduating in Medicine from the University of Liverpool in 1997, Miss Stevenson completed basic surgical training in the North West and obtained her MRCS in 2001. She subsequently entered higher specialist orthopaedic training in the Mersey region and gained her FRCS (Tr & Orth) in 2010. Her subsequent training concentrated on upper limb surgery, including time at Wrightington Hospital with visits to specialist centres elsewhere in the UK and Europe.

She was appointed as a consultant at Aintree University Hospital in 2012 and is now part of Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust. Her NHS work also includes major trauma, with a special interest in scapula fractures; and she has served as Clinical Director for Trauma since 2022. 

Miss Stevenson has published research in orthopaedics and completed an MSc(Hons) in Leadership and business management at Liverpool John Moores University, where she completed her dissertation in psychological safety within high functioning teams in Orthopaedics. She also gained a distinction award from the Chartered management institute.

Helene is currently chair of the Hunter Doig (WinS) committee at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.  Helene also serves as a qualified mentor on the colleges mentorship programme and has applied to become an examiner.
