Mrs Sandhya Shiralkar

Sandhya Shiralkar is a Consultant Vascular and General Surgeon at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, based at Russells Hall Hospital in the West Midlands. She has over two decades of experience as a consultant and also serves as a named Paediatric Surgeon within her trust.

Her clinical and leadership career has included several senior roles such as College Tutor, Medical Service Lead, Audit Lead, and Governance Lead. She has also contributed significantly to surgical education, including acting as an examiner for exit examinations in both general and vascular surgery.

Mrs Shiralkar trained in medicine in Pune, India, and later achieved multiple Fellowships, including FRCS qualifications from Edinburgh, Glasgow, and England, as well as the FRCS in General Surgery in 2000. She also obtained the European Board of Surgery Qualification (Vascular) in the same year.

Alongside her NHS work, she is academically active as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Birmingham and an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at St George's University School of Medicine, with additional academic links to Aston University.

Her professional interests span vascular and general surgery, and she has contributed to numerous national and international presentations and publications. She is a member of several professional bodies, including the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland, and the European Society for Vascular Surgery.
