About Mr Vik Sharma
Mr Vik Sharma MBBS BSc FRCOphth is Lead Glaucoma Surgeon at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and Medical Director of the London Ophthalmology Centre (LondonOC) on Harley Street, which he founded in 2005. An award-winning glaucoma, cataract and lens surgeon, he is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of London and has advised many glaucoma boards.
Mr Sharma treats glaucoma at every stage. For many patients he recommends SLT laser (selective laser trabeculoplasty) as the first step: a safe, painless, five-minute treatment that can replace daily eye drops. He has performed thousands of SLT treatments since 2010. He also performs the full range of minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), including Hydrus, OMNI, Xen, PreserFlo and MINIject, combined cataract and glaucoma surgery, and needle-free cataract and lens surgery.
Mr Sharma qualified in medicine at St Bartholomew's and The Royal London Hospital Medical College and holds a BSc in Immunology from UCL. He trained as a Specialist Registrar in Ophthalmology at several of London's leading teaching hospitals, and has authored peer-reviewed research articles and book chapters.

I have been a patient of Mr Sharma for more than 10 years and he has successfully carried out several surgical procedures to reduce my eye pressures. This year it became necessary to insert a new Preserflo shunt in one eye and needle an existing Xen stent to remove scar tissue in the other eye. A chest infection necessitated several postponements and Mr Sharma was exceptionally understanding in rearranging the procedures and contacting me to check on my condition. Both operations were successful and my eye pressures are once again well controlled with no current need for medication. I am profoundly grateful for his care.
Mr Sharma carried out a complete assessment of my eyes and explained the various options available. The surgery itself went smoothly and comfortably and I'm delighted with the results.
Mr Sharma is extremely empathetic to my eye condition. He understand so quickly any problems I am having and he explains everything o me in great detail. He is always gentle at eamination of the eyes which which really helps as they are so sensitive and he tells me how to take the best care of them in the future and the present. He is very helpful and very kind.
Doctor Sharma was professional, efficient, warm and reassuring. I could not recommend a doctor more highly. I felt his knowledge and expertise were second to none and was very glad I’d booked this appointment.
I found him patient and clear as to options, the manner of the surgery to take place, post-surgery issues and lens choice. Charming manner and friendly practice. The surgery was about a half hour, no pain, and results amazing.
As always Mr Sharma had explained the treatment he was about to perform in a way that I understood. No complaints whatsoever.
