Mr Syed Tanweer Ashraf

Mr. Tanweer Ashraf is a Consultant Knee Surgeon specializing in knee cartilage and ligament surgeries, along with procedures for arthritis. He is recognized as a regional authority on knee cap issues.

In 2004, he was appointed NHS consultant at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, both of which are highly specialized tertiary referral centers. At these NHS hospitals, Mr. Ashraf provides both direct and tertiary referral services. He also offers tailored, expert care at private hospitals.

Mr. Ashraf follows a principle of establishing a thorough diagnosis before determining the most appropriate treatment for each patient. To achieve this, he collaborates with a team of expert Physiotherapists, Radiologists, and Orthotists.

He is a founding member of the British Patellofemoral Society and organizes the Patellofemoral Masterclass, an international course designed for training specialized orthopedic knee surgeons. Additionally, he runs the Regional Patella Multidisciplinary Clinic to treat complex knee cap-related conditions.

Mr. Ashraf offers a variety of procedures, including ACL and ligament repair and reconstruction, meniscus repair and replacement, knee alignment correction (osteotomy), partial and total knee replacements, cartilage implantation with lab-grown cartilage cells, and surgeries to stabilize the knee cap. He has worked closely with experts in France and Germany to develop advanced surgical techniques for stabilizing the patella.

He also serves as an educational supervisor for trainee doctors and mentors senior fellows prior to their consultant roles. With numerous research publications to his name, Mr. Ashraf regularly audits his clinical practice.
