Mr Suraj Joshy is an experienced Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in foot and ankle surgery. He currently holds an NHS consultant appointment at Northampton General Hospital, bringing more than 15 years of consultant-level experience to the management of adult orthopaedic conditions, with particular expertise in foot and ankle disorders and complex lower-limb trauma.
Before joining Northampton General Hospital, Mr Joshy spent 15 years as a Consultant at Hull University Teaching Hospitals, a designated Major Trauma Centre. This role provided extensive experience in the assessment and surgical management of complex lower-limb, foot and ankle trauma, alongside elective foot and ankle practice. Mr Joshy currently provides private consultations at:The Manor Hospital, Biddenham, Bedford Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital, East Riding, Yorkshire.
Mr Joshy’s practice is principally focused on adult foot and ankle surgery, encompassing the assessment and management of common, complex and trauma-related conditions affecting the foot and ankle. His areas of expertise include bunions and forefoot deformities, foot and ankle arthritis, Achilles tendon disorders, ankle instability, plantar fasciitis, Morton’s neuroma, flatfoot conditions, sports-related injuries, fractures and complex foot, ankle and lower-limb trauma.
His fellowship training in adult lower-limb surgery and children’s orthopaedics provides an additional foundation for managing more complex presentations and deformities.
Mr Joshy completed his specialist orthopaedic training in South Wales and Manchester, followed by dedicated fellowship training in adult lower-limb surgery and children’s orthopaedic surgery.
After obtaining his FRCS (Tr & Orth) in 2009 and specialist registration in 2010, he progressed to consultant practice within the NHS. His subsequent 15-year tenure at Hull University Teaching Hospitals provided substantial exposure to high-acuity orthopaedic trauma within a Major Trauma Centre, strengthening his expertise in challenging lower-limb and foot and ankle injuries.
Mr Joshy maintains an active interest in orthopaedic research and education, particularly within foot and ankle surgery. He has authored more than 20 original articles in international medical journals, as well as contributing book chapters relevant to foot and ankle surgery.
Mr Joshy takes an individualised and function-focused approach to orthopaedic care, beginning with careful assessment of the underlying foot, ankle or lower-limb condition and its impact on mobility and everyday activities
