Mr Lash is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in Vitreo-retinal surgery and cataracts.
Mr Lash trained as an optometrist in the early 90s in Birmingham (Aston University) and then went on to medical school in Southampton. He worked as a Locum Optometrist full time before medical school and then part-time throughout his medical training. After completing house jobs at Southampton University Hospital he trained in Ophthalmology, completing basic surgical training at Bournemouth eye unit and then Southampton eye unit.
His higher specialist training was undertaken on the Wessex rotation between Bournemouth, Portsmouth and Southampton. He completed a vitreo-retinal fellowship in Melbourne before gaining my consultant post at Southampton eye unit.

Rated 2 , it was quite traumatic I was quite shaken and had a lot of pain in my eye, at the time and for 3 to 4 days after the operation

OphthalmologistStephen, my colleague in the Southampton eye unit has been very helpful to all my diabetic eye patients who have a sight-threatening retinal detachment. He is very quick to respond to my emails and get these patients treated as quickly as possible. He is a very skilled surgeon and I trust him for my patients. I always get feedback from him about the patient's recovery after the surgery which is helpful for the continuity of care. I would highly recommend him for all the VR procedures.
