About Mr Roger McPherson
Mr. Roger McPherson is a consultant ophthalmic and vitreoretinal surgeon at the Cardiff Eye Clinic and the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.
Mr. McPherson qualified from Southampton University Medical School in 1986 and joined the British Army on a short service commission to begin training as an ophthalmologist. He was an ophthalmology registrar in Cardiff and Swansea, before undertaking a vitreoretinal fellowship in Melbourne, further extending his knowledge and skillset.
Mr. McPherson undertakes his private practice at Spire Cardiff Hospital where he provides a general ophthalmology and cataract surgery service as well as consultations for ocular trauma, diabetic eye disease and vitreoretinal disorders.

I had an IOL procedure yesterday under the care of consultant ophthalmologist Mr Roger McPherson, and the experience was exceptional. Mr McPherson is an incredibly professional, calm, and reassuring surgeon. He took the time to explain everything clearly and made me feel completely safe and valued as a patient throughout the entire operation. I would also wish to express my thanks to his specialist surgical team who made me feel very comfortable and at ease.
An excellent outcome, every bit as superb as my first visit to see him when he removed the cataract in my left eye. Thanks to his surgery on this occasion (on my right eye) I can now read clearly again, work at a computer screen and no longer have eye strain and the associated headaches. I can't thank him enough, my quality of life has been restored.
