Mr Prashant Jain

Mr Prashant Jain has been a consultant surgeon at Hull University Teaching Hospitals since 2006. His initial surgical training was at University Teaching Hospital in North India and subsequently in UK specialist surgical training programme in the Yorkshire region. He is also an Honorary Clinical Tutor for Hull and York Medical School . He has previously been the lead clinician for Upper GI cancer and the Lead clinician for Upper GI departments. He is currently a Laparoscopic trainer for the Royal College of Surgeons and an examiner for MRCS exams.

Mr Jain provides a comprehensive service in the area of general surgery with a specialist interest in upper gastrointestinal disease. He has experience in the management of particularly challenging and complex problems and performs a wide variety of laparoscopic surgery including cholecystectomy, abdominal and groin hernia repair, anti-reflux surgery, hiatus hernia repair, splenectomy, and appendicectomy. He also performs laparoscopic gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy, and roux Y gastric bypass. He specialise in revisional weight loss surgery. He is expert in managing oesophageal and gastric cancers, peptic ulcer disease and other upper Gi tract conditions.

Mr Jain has expertise in the following areas:

• Surgery for obesity: Gastric Bypass, Gastric band, Sleeve gastrectomy, Mini Gastric Bypass
• Laparoscopic and open surgery of abdominal, hernia, inguinal, femoral, umbilical hernia and hiatus hernia surgery with or without mesh.
• Incisional hernia surgery with component separation technique.
• Treatment of Gall Bladder diseases, gallstones, gallbladder polyps, appendix, spleen, and small bowel conditions
• Treatment of dyspepsia, heartburn, difficulty in swallowing, acid reflux, achalasia, peptic ulcer, LINX procedure for reflux.
• Investigation for stomach ulcer, Barrett's oesophagus, and Helicobacter pylori
• Surgery for Lipoma, sebaceous cyst,
• Laparoscopic, Robotic and open Cancer Surgery for Gastric and Oesophageal cancer, GIST
