He also worked in combat sports, including the world champions in mixed martial arts and boxing. Further, he has collaborated with the Football Association on recent projects to help decrease the number of injuries in the England National football team.

He completed a sports injuries and reconstructive arthroscopy fellowship at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, He is active in teaching and has lectured at the University of Manchester, University Liverpool and University of Lancaster about orthopaedics and sports injuries. He also has a strong research background and has been published in many peer-reviewed journals and textbooks. He has made many presentations in the UK and internationally, including the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, the World Sports Trauma Congress and the FIFA Football Medical Conference.
