Mr Miles Duncan has been a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon at the BMI Hospital, Lancaster, since 2017. Mr Duncan also offers removal of lumps of the salivary glands, recently introducing minimally invasive salivary gland surgery (sialendoscopy) to the unit in Lancaster. Mr Duncan graduated with Honours, achieving a Bachelor of Medical Science from Dundee University in 1991 and then a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1993. He then worked in Scotland for several years gaining experience in the field of maxillofacial surgery before his acceptance to medical school at Guys, Kings and St Thomas', London graduating in 2001. After completing his basic surgical training in Accident & Emergency, General Surgery, Orthopaedics and ENT at Northwick Park Hospital, NW London, Miles undertook higher surgical training in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery in the North East of England, based at Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Newcastle and then on the South Coast, training at Brighton, Eastbourne and then at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, being awarded FRCS (Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery) in 2017. He is actively involved in the undergraduate and post-graduate teaching programmes at the University Hospital of Morecambe Bay. Mr Duncan is also an external examiner for Lancaster University Medical School admissions board.

I have had a really pleasant experience with Mr Duncan from start to finish, he has been extremely helpful and has always made me feel at ease and I felt I could trust him completely throughout my journey.

Miles Duncan was extremely attentive, providing clear communication and support throughout the time in his care. No question was too much and he really did everything in his power to ensure my mother's surgery and care was top notch. He also took the time to explain complicated surgeries, new to us, in every day terminology and bring it down to an understandle level. Couldn't rate Miles Duncan any higher on the care received.

I can't tell you how relieved I feel after my consultation and then consequent treatment with Miles. I was so worried, and between him, his secretary and his dental nurse they really did make it as pleasant an experience as possible. I wouldn't hesitate to see Miles again for treatment or to recommend him to others. So far my treatment is healing well and I've no doubt that he has done a great job. Thank you Miles.

Miles took over my care from a retiree consultant I was also presenting as a new patient of TMJ dysfunction . He conducted quite a few tests to diagnosis which he had Thoroughly discussed with me . Miles developed a plan of treatment we started off with the non invasive conservative treatments and when they failed now onto a pain management plan . Miles always makes you feel relaxed and always does what is best for his patient and puts you at ease. Miles always explains the pros and cons of what treatment is on offer . All in all I would highly recommend .
