About Mr Mike O'Neill

Mr Michael Paul O'Neill is a Consultant Podiatrist specialising in podiatry, foot surgery, and paediatric podiatry. He practises at The Princess Margaret Hospital, where he assesses and treats a range of foot and lower limb conditions in both adults and children. He is able to consult with children of all ages, and when surgical intervention is required, he performs procedures for children aged three and above at The Princess Margaret Hospital.

Mr O'Neill has extensive experience in the assessment and management of foot pain and lower limb biomechanical conditions. His clinical interests include the treatment of common foot problems such as ingrowing toenails, bunions, hammered toes, mallet toes, and painful corns. He also manages conditions such as Morton’s neuroma, plantar fasciitis, Sever’s heel, joint disease, and soft tissue disorders affecting the foot. Conservative treatment is generally used as the first-line approach before considering more invasive procedures.

His clinical practice includes biomechanical evaluations and gait analysis to better understand the function of the foot and lower limb and identify the causes of pain or dysfunction. Diagnostic shoe scanning techniques and video technology are used as part of this assessment process. Orthotics may be prescribed to improve the positioning and function of the foot and lower limb, either to help prevent injury or to support rehabilitation and pain management.

Mr O'Neill has a particular interest in the management and removal of painful corns and calluses. Treatment may involve conservative methods as well as surgical management depending on the condition. He works closely with orthopaedics, rheumatology, and physiotherapy departments as part of a multidisciplinary approach to care.

In addition to his clinical work, Mr O'Neill has served as Vice President of The Society of Chiropodists & Podiatrists for four years and has been a member of its national executive for twelve years. He also lectures nationally and internationally on a variety of foot conditions and has contributed to national press coverage relating to podiatry.
