Mr Michael Jarrett

Mr Michael Jarrett is a Consultant specialising in General Surgery, more specifically laparoscopic (keyhole) and colorectal surgery. His main clinical interests include hernia, haemorrhoid surgery, faecal incontinence and pelvic problems.

He underwent specialist training at Cambridge and Oxford University Medical Schools. Following this, he completed SHO training in Bristol and Bath before going back to Oxford for registrar jobs. He also carried out research projects at St. Mark's Hospital, London. This involved examining innovative techniques that can be used to handle faecal incontinence and also sacral nerve stimulation. With this particular technique, he has published articles and contributed to the NICE guidelines. For his work, he received an MD at Oxford and awarded the Arris and Gale Lectureship by the Royal College of Surgeons.

Mr Jarrett completed laparoscopic training in Colchester and received an Ethicon Laparoscopic Colorectal Fellowship. From 2009 he started working at Kingston Hospital and is still currently working here but also at New Victoria Hospital. He is also a representative of the Association of Coloproctology.
