About Mr Mark Wilkins
Mr Mark Wilkins is a director of OCL Vision and a consultant ophthalmic surgeon specialising in laser refractive eye surgery, lens based vision correction surgery, cataract and corneal transplant surgery including the super-specialised Boston Keratoprosthesis (KPRO) transplant surgery.
Amongst other roles, research has continued to be a significant part of Mr Wilkins’ career: he has been the principal investigator for a large National Institute for Health research trial. He is also an honorary senior lecturer at the Institute of Ophthalmology.
Mr Wilkins is actively invited to present at national and international conferences, including European and American Societies of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (UKISCRS, ESCRS, ASCRS), American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO). He is described by his peers as a highly skilled surgeon and a likeable mentor to budding consultant surgeons.

He says: "[They] should reduce intensity of visible light so that the wearer feels comfortable. They should have a polarising filter to deal with glare from horizontal surfaces such as roads, and also block UV light which is harmful to the eyes.
