About Mr Krishnan Anantharamakrishnan

Krishnan Anantharamakrishnan is a highly experienced Consultant Urologist who has been appointed at King’s Mill Hospital since 2008. He qualified in medicine in 1990 and went on to complete a Master’s degree in General Surgery before undertaking laboratory-based research into stone disease in Manchester. He subsequently completed his specialist urology training in the Mersey region and undertook dedicated paediatric urology training at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

Mr Anantharamakrishnan holds extensive qualifications including MBBS, MS, MSc (Urology), FRCS, FRCS (Urology), FEBU and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Education. He has also completed advanced subspecialist training in urinary reconstruction in Mansoura, Egypt and Bern, Switzerland, as well as gaining urogynaecology experience in Dallas, Texas.

During his time at King’s Mill Hospital, he established both the urinary incontinence service and the paediatric urology service. He also introduced local anaesthetic injection treatments for bladder conditions, expanding minimally invasive options for patients.

His clinical expertise spans a very broad range of urological conditions and procedures. These include cystoscopy, direct vision internal urethrotomy, circumcision and frenuloplasty, surgery for penile curvature, management of erectile dysfunction including intracavernosal injections, treatment of penile fracture, vasectomy and vasectomy reversal (including full microsurgical techniques), varicocoele repair, epididymal cyst excision, orchidectomy and testicular prosthesis placement, bladder tumour management, prostate surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia, and minimally invasive day-case UroLift procedures performed under local anaesthesia.

Mr Anantharamakrishnan manages the full spectrum of urological conditions including urinary tract symptoms, incontinence, stone disease, prostate conditions, bladder disorders, male infertility, and urological cancers. He is known for combining advanced surgical expertise with a patient-centred approach, offering both complex reconstructive surgery and modern minimally invasive treatments.

No-Scalpel Vasectomy: Minimally Invasive Procedure | Krishnan Anantharamakrishnan MBBS,MS,FRCS,MSc,FRC posted on the topic | LinkedIn

No-Scalpel Technique: Minimally Invasive Approach: The no-scalpel vasectomy method eliminates the need for any cutting with a scalpel. Instead, the procedure involves making a tiny puncture in the skin, which usually does not require stitches. This innovative technique reduces the risk of complications and enhances patient comfort. Patients can be reassured that they will remain fully awake during the procedure, with the area being completely numbed using a local anaesthetic. To further minimise any initial discomfort, options are available such as warming the anaesthetic to body temperature, which can significantly lessen the sting often felt during administration. One of the notable benefits of this procedure is the rapid recovery time. Most patients are able to return to non-strenuous work within 48 hours and resume all usual activities within one week, making it a highly convenient choice for those with busy schedules. Contact for Nationwide Service I am pleased to offer local anaesthetic, no-scalpel vasectomies throughout the country. If you are interested or have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
