Mr Jason Harvey

Mr Jason Harvey is a highly experienced Consultant Spinal Surgeon whose practice is dedicated entirely to the assessment and treatment of adult spinal conditions. He provides comprehensive care across all aspects of spinal health, offering both surgical and non-surgical options tailored to each patient’s needs.

Mr Harvey undertook his postgraduate orthopaedic training in the Wessex region, where he developed a strong interest in spinal surgery. He subsequently completed a prestigious 12-month specialist spinal fellowship in Brisbane, Australia (2003–2004), gaining advanced experience in complex spinal procedures. On returning to the UK, he worked as a Consultant Spine Surgeon at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol before being appointed Lead Spinal Surgeon at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth. In 2018, he joined the New Wessex Spinal Unit at Southampton University Hospital.

Mr Harvey is committed to avoiding invasive surgery wherever possible and frequently utilises pain-relieving spinal injections and other conservative measures as first-line treatment. When surgery is required, he specialises in procedures of both the cervical and lumbar spine, including cervical disc replacement, cervical decompression, and surgery for lumbar and cervical disc prolapse.

Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Harvey plays an active role in surgical education. He regularly teaches consultant spinal surgeons and neurosurgeons in cervical disc replacement techniques, reflecting his expertise in this field.
