Mr James Hicks

Mr James Hicks is a Consultant Urologist with specialist interests in urological oncology surgery, laparoscopic surgery and core urology. His interests include the management of kidney, bladder and prostate cancers. He is experienced in laparoscopic kidney and robotic prostate surgery and also performs laparoscopic and open surgery for adrenal conditions.

Mr Hicks studied medicine at the Royal London Hospital before completing his early surgical training. He subsequently undertook specialist training in Portsmouth, Southampton and Bournemouth, where he developed his specialist interests in urological cancer surgery. He also completed a laparoscopic fellowship in Leipzig, Germany, with Professor Stolzenburg, focusing on laparoscopic radical prostatectomy.

Mr Hicks undertook two years of molecular biology research into angiogenesis in urological cancers. He has published extensively on laparoscopic surgery, particularly the techniques, outcomes and training associated with laparoscopic radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer.

His professional memberships include the Royal College of Surgeons, the British Association of Urological Surgeons and the European Association of Urology. He is also a trainer recognised by the GMC.
