Prior to his current role, Mr Allibone was based at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital where he was the lead spinal surgeon. In 2007, he moved to the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN), where he is the current Lead Spinal Surgeon.
Mr Allibone graduated from The London Hospital College in 1989 before undertaking general surgical training at St Bartholomew's Hospital. His neurosurgery training was completed at the NHNN.
He is a member of the National Clinical Reference Group for Spinal Services and the Lead Clinician of the Complex Spinal Group at the NHNN. He has also led the North London Metastatic Spinal Tumour Group and been part of the executive council of the British Association of Spinal Surgeons. Mr Allibone presents at both national and international conferences.

Very patient and understanding, he explained the whole process in simple easy to understand language and reassured me that all would be well. Excellent care and service.

Mr Allibone gave me time to explain my issues, examined me, and prescribed imaging in order to make a correct diagnosis. He reassured me that depending on the results there would be treatment options. I have been able to arrange to see him for the results three days after the scans. Very professional, friendly and thorough.

I would not allow anybody else inside my spine. I feel completely safe and certain that he has considered all options, including doing nothing.

I was not at all keen to have spinal surgery but Dr. Allibone explained all my options in a very clear and professional way and ultimately gave me the reassurance I needed to make what I believe to be the best decision given the severity of my herniated disc. All the relevant risks were explained clearly and as a result of Dr Allibone's expertise did not materialise. To be able to walk without nerve pain for the first time in the 100 days since this injury occurred feels like a miracle.
