About Professor Divya Prakash
Professor Divya Prakash is a highly distinguished Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with an extensive career spanning over three decades. After completing his initial medical training at Patna Medical College in 1985, he underwent specialist orthopaedic training in the Birmingham region, further refining his surgical expertise through prestigious fellowships in Derby and Nottingham. Professor Prakash also pursued a distinguished military career, joining the British Army in 1999 and completing the full Officers’ training programme, including a period at Sandhurst. He served in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and undertook several overseas deployments, including missions in Sierra Leone, Bosnia and Iraq.
His clinical practice is focused on advanced lower limb surgery, where he has developed particular expertise in joint preservation, knee replacement and sports-related injuries. He currently holds the position of Clinical Lead at Sandwell General Hospital and serves as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at both Birmingham and Aston Universities. His leadership in sports medicine extends to his roles as Medical Director for the Worcestershire Cricket Board and Honorary Surgeon for Warwickshire County Cricket Club.
Professor Prakash is deeply committed to medical education and research, serving as a faculty member and examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons. His work in surgical innovation includes computer-navigated surgery, patient-specific instrumentation for knee replacement, partial knee replacement and cartilage regenerative procedures, including cartilage transplantation. He remains actively involved in international lecturing and has published widely on knee and hip surgery.

Professor Prakash is an amazing Doctor! He performed a very tricky operation of the removal of bone that was inbedded in the joint of my knee and had attached to my femur. I had been informed previously by an NHS Doctor that nothing could be done and was left devastated. The best decision I made was visiting Professor Prakash who did not hesitate in his confidence that he voice help me. He is thorough, kind, caring and extremely professional. The service I received from beginning to end from him has been impeccable. I cannot thank Professor Prakash enough as I feel he has given my quality of life back. Thank you so much Professor!!

From the start i had total confidence in the Surgeon and the procedure, every step of the way he has put my concerns at ease and fully explained everything. I am very happy with the treatment I received and with the way the doctor looked after me from start to finish. He was explaining to me every details about my knee problem and referring me to further examination to make sure the surgery and treatment was all fine. He even asked me if I want to do a second surgery if I think I am still not fully recovered by explaining to me what's better to do first.
