About Professor Divya Prakash

Professor Divya Prakash is a highly distinguished Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with an extensive career spanning over three decades. After completing his initial medical training at Patna Medical College in 1985, he underwent specialist orthopaedic training in the Birmingham region, further refining his surgical expertise through prestigious fellowships in Derby and Nottingham. Professor Prakash also pursued a distinguished military career, joining the British Army in 1999 and completing the full Officers’ training programme, including a period at Sandhurst. He served in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and undertook several overseas deployments, including missions in Sierra Leone, Bosnia and Iraq.

His clinical practice is focused on advanced lower limb surgery, where he has developed particular expertise in joint preservation, knee replacement and sports-related injuries. He currently holds the position of Clinical Lead at Sandwell General Hospital and serves as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at both Birmingham and Aston Universities. His leadership in sports medicine extends to his roles as Medical Director for the Worcestershire Cricket Board and Honorary Surgeon for Warwickshire County Cricket Club.

Professor Prakash is deeply committed to medical education and research, serving as a faculty member and examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons. His work in surgical innovation includes computer-navigated surgery, patient-specific instrumentation for knee replacement, partial knee replacement and cartilage regenerative procedures, including cartilage transplantation.
