Mr Daniel Tweedie

Mr Daniel Tweedie is a highly experienced Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon with a specialist focus on paediatric ENT conditions, complex airway disorders and children's ear, nose and throat surgery. With more than 20 years of medical experience, he is among a relatively small number of UK consultants dedicated to specialist children's ENT care, including the management of children with complex medical and surgical needs.

His expertise encompasses advanced paediatric airway surgery, hearing and ear disorders, sleep-related breathing difficulties and minimally invasive tonsil procedures. Alongside his paediatric practice, he also provides general ENT assessment and treatment for adults.

Mr Tweedie specialises in children's ENT surgery, paediatric airway disorders, hearing problems and sleep-related breathing conditions. His expertise includes airway endoscopy, airway reconstruction, tracheostomy, coblation intracapsular tonsillectomy (tonsillotomy), conventional tonsil and adenoid surgery, grommet insertion, management of glue ear and recurrent ear infections, surgery for cholesteatoma and perforated eardrums, paediatric sinus surgery, treatment of nosebleeds, management of drooling and surgery for congenital or acquired head and neck abnormalities. He also assesses snoring, obstructive sleep apnoea, tinnitus, hyperacusis, neck lumps and paediatric ENT emergencies.

Mr Tweedie completed comprehensive specialist ENT training in London, gaining experience across adult and paediatric otolaryngology before undertaking advanced fellowship training at Great Ormond Street Hospital. In January 2013, he was appointed Consultant Paediatric ENT Surgeon at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. His NHS clinical practice is primarily based at Evelina London Children's Hospital, where he manages routine and highly complex ENT conditions in children.

His NHS responsibilities have also included providing adult ENT services and specialist ENT cover at Royal Brompton Hospital and King's College Hospital. Working within multidisciplinary hospital teams, he contributes to the assessment and surgical management of children whose airway, hearing or head and neck conditions require coordinated specialist care.

Mr Tweedie has held several educational and professional leadership responsibilities alongside his clinical work. He previously served as ENT Training Programme Director for South London, contributing to the education and development of future ENT surgeons.

His professional contributions have also included serving for approximately a decade as a Council Member and Treasurer of the British Association for Paediatric Otorhinolaryngology (BAPO).

He has additionally participated in the Royal College of Surgeons' Children's Surgical Forum and the British Thoracic Society's children's sleep disorders working group.

In 2015, Mr Tweedie received a Trust award for outstanding patient care at Evelina London Children's Hospital. He was also awarded a Cambridge Blue during his university years for participation in the University Boat Race, reflecting his sporting achievements alongside his medical education.

Mr Tweedie understands that ENT problems in children can be particularly worrying for families, especially when a child has complex medical needs. His approach emphasises careful clinical assessment, clear explanations and treatment recommendations tailored to each child's condition and circumstances.

As a father of four, he brings a personal understanding of family life to his professional practice. He aims to help parents make informed decisions about their children's care, balancing the benefits of surgery with appropriate non-surgical management whenever possible.
