Mr Adnan Alam

Mr Adnan Alam is a Consultant General Surgeon with specialist expertise in colorectal and general surgery. He qualified in medicine from the University of Edinburgh in 1997 and has since built his career in and around London. He completed Higher Surgical Training in North East London, obtained a Master’s degree in Surgery from University College London in 2007 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2010.

Mr Alam is Clinical Lead for General Surgery and Clinical Lead for Bowel Cancer at Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Before taking up this position, he worked as a consultant at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, a nationally recognised centre of excellence for colorectal surgery and medical practice.

His clinical work focuses on the investigation and treatment of lower gastrointestinal disorders including bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease and irritable bowel syndrome. He also manages anorectal conditions such as haemorrhoids, fissures, fistulae, and rectal prolapse, as well as a broad range of general surgical issues including hernias and benign skin lesions.

Mr Alam has extensive experience in performing diagnostic and minimally invasive procedures, including colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy and laparoscopic abdominal and hernia surgery. He is a member of the Medical Defence Union and the Association of Coloproctology.

Mr Alam currently consults at The Holly Hospital in Buckhurst Hill, Essex.
