About Professor Mohid Khan

Professor Mohid Khan is a Senior Consultant Gastroenterologist and Endoscopist with over two decades of clinical and academic experience. His expertise spans general and complex digestive conditions, with particular interests in persistent or unexplained gastrointestinal symptoms, neuroendocrine tumours and gastrointestinal cancer.

He assesses symptoms and conditions including abdominal pain, bloating, reflux and indigestion, diarrhoea, constipation, changes in bowel habit, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), malabsorption, iron-deficiency anaemia and unexplained weight loss. Professor Khan also provides second opinions for patients whose symptoms remain unresolved following previous investigations or treatment.

As a JAG-accredited endoscopist, Professor Khan performs gastroscopy, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy and diagnostic upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. His clinical interests also encompass early cancer detection, gut health and microbiome assessment.

Professor Khan completed First Class studies in Clinical Sciences at Imperial College London in 2002 before graduating in Medicine from St Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College London in 2003. He later completed a PhD in Gastrointestinal Oncology at University College London in 2013. Further credentials include Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of London and Fellowship of the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

Research forms a substantial part of Professor Khan's work, particularly in gastrointestinal and neuroendocrine disease, cancer detection, gut hormone disorders and the nutritional effects of long-term digestive conditions. He has led national and international studies, published in peer-reviewed journals and contributed to digital health projects involving artificial intelligence and methods for monitoring symptoms and clinical outcomes.

Professional memberships include the British Society of Gastroenterology, the European Neuroendocrine Tumour Society and the Welsh Association of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy.
