Mr Mohammed Azher

Mr Mohammed Azher is a Consultant Respiratory and General Physician with extensive experience in respiratory medicine and general internal medicine. He graduated from King Edward Medical College, Lahore, Pakistan, in 1978 and subsequently completed general professional and specialist respiratory medicine training at various centres across the United Kingdom.

In 1991, he was appointed Consultant Chest Physician at the Armed Forces Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he combined clinical practice with postgraduate medical education and training responsibilities. Since 2002, he has worked at Bedford Hospital, now part of Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and also provides private consultations at The Manor Hospital in Biddenham.

Mr Azher's clinical practice includes the assessment and management of a wide range of respiratory conditions. His areas of interest include lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, interstitial lung disease and pulmonary vascular disorders. He serves as Lead Respiratory Physician for lung cancer and COPD within his NHS practice.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Azher is actively involved in postgraduate medical education. He currently holds the roles of Foundation Programme Director and Royal College Tutor at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, contributing to the training and development of junior doctors and medical trainees.

His research interests focus on interstitial lung disease and pulmonary vascular conditions. He is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom (MRCP UK), a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCP Ire), a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), and a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP).
