Dr Mitesh Patel

Dr Mitesh Patel is a Consultant Dermatologist with a background spanning dermatology, general practice and clinical research. He is the clinical lead for community dermatology in Lambeth, bringing specialist knowledge of skin conditions to a service designed to help patients access appropriate assessment and treatment.

Dr Patel completed his medical degree at the University of Birmingham in 2013. Before specialising in dermatology, he undertook general practice training through an Academic Clinical Fellowship, combining clinical work with research. He later completed a PhD at the University of East Anglia in 2022, adding to his academic background. 

His specialist dermatology training took place at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust between 2021 and 2025. This training included exposure to a broad range of complex dermatological conditions, including severe eczema and psoriasis, hair and nail disorders, inflammatory skin diseases, infections and skin conditions affecting children and adults. 

In his community dermatology role, Dr Patel contributes to the assessment and management of skin conditions, supporting patients in understanding their symptoms and following an appropriate treatment plan. The service also works alongside GPs to help coordinate care and determine when specialist hospital services may be needed. 

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Patel has contributed to dermatological research. His published work includes research into the challenges of diagnosing cellulitis, and has also co-authored research examining patient priorities in melanoma care, reflecting an interest in evidence that can inform clinical practice and the patient experience.
