I recently was in hospital for 11 days for a esophagectomy, Dr Van Den Bossche did the operation. He was a gentleman and explained everything to me so clear. An amazing Surgeon, and I appreciate everything he has done for me.

I have recently spent a significant amount of time in hospital in Guernsey during which Mr Van Den Bossche performed two life saving surgeries on me. These surgeries would normally have been carried out in Southampton but due to my poor condition, decisions were made to perform the surgery in Guernsey. Mr Van Den Bossche visited me at my bedside at least once a day during my stay and kept in contact with my wife by phone during those critical times. He always provided us with clear explanations of the surgical and other procedures I underwent and his overall approach to patient care was exemplary. He also showed great empathy towards me, my wife and my family members whenever he encountered them at the hospital, something which makes him stand out from many other physicians. He made me feel like I was the most important patient in the hospital, filled me and my family with positivity, and I truly believe I would never have made it through without him. He is truly dedicated to his work and I have no doubt I owe my life to him. There can’t be many patients in this world who would say that they miss their surgeon following their discharge from hospital but I am one of them.

I was referred to Mr Van Den Bossche as a patient needing to have my gall bladder removed. He explained that he would do this as keyhole surgery fully explaining the benefits and also potential issues we could face. He also noticed that I had a potential heart issue that should be checked before surgery. This proved to be the case and, after treatment for that, he went ahead with the procedure. I did need a little more aftercare than expected however Mr Van Den Bossche saw me every day to check progress and ensured that I was kept up to date. I must say that throughout the entire process, I was impressed by his professionalism, his empathy and his bedside manner and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone requiring his services.
