His signature procedure is the LINX operation, which is a simple treatment for heartburn and reflux using a bracelet with magnetic beads placed at the end of the oesophagus.
Mr. Van den Bossche gained his medical degree in 1989 and began performing obesity surgery in 1995 in Belgium. He was trained by Dr Jacques Himpens, who is the current president of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity. In 1999, he moved to the Channel Islands and, in 2005, implemented the bariatric surgery service at the Spire Hospital in Southampton together with Mr. Ian Bailey.

He gave me facts and even recommendations on where to pick up my prescription to avoid judgmental eyes, which I really appreciated. In following meetings he showed nothing but professional praise at my progress. He gave continued advice on diet and exercise while ensuring my safety with regular check ins on my side effects. My journey with weight loss and Mr Van den Bossche started in October 2024 and now as I write this in April 2026, I am 125lbs down. Healthy, happy and free from food noise and for the first time - at a healthy weight. Thank you for everything Mr Van den Bossche. You’ve not only changed, but saved my life.
