Dr. Melanie Sehgal is an accomplished Educational Psychologist with a wealth of experience in her field. She holds a doctorate in Applied Educational Psychology from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne and a Bachelor of Science (BSc Honours) Degree in Psychology from the University of Essex. Dr. Sehgal is a registered practitioner psychologist with the Health and Care Professionals Council and is recognised as a chartered psychologist by the British Psychological Society.

With over ten years of experience, Dr. Sehgal is highly skilled in various aspects of her profession, including assessment, consultation, training delivery, service development, critical incidents, supervision, research, and report writing. Her passion lies in supporting children with learning differences, and she has gained valuable expertise in addressing social and emotional needs through her work with a youth offending team. Dr. Sehgal is well-versed in positive psychology approaches and is proficient in using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule.

Throughout her career, Dr. Sehgal has worked in schools and early years settings in different regions, including the north east, Cornwall, and Essex. Her broad experience has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of learning differences and effective interventions to facilitate children's progress. Notably, she served as a senior specialist educational psychologist for four years, focusing on social and emotional needs within a youth offending team.

Dr. Sehgal's approach to her work centres on utilising positive psychology methods, such as solution-oriented approaches and narrative approaches. She continuously seeks to enhance her skills and knowledge and is currently undergoing training in the use of Video Interaction Guidance, which will further enrich her practice.
