About Mr Martin Woods
Mr. Martin Woods, a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, serves at Guy's and St Thomas NHS Trust and the Evelina Children's Hospital, overseeing the regional Evelina London Cleft Service. With dual qualifications in Medicine and Dentistry, he specialises in the surgical management of congenital and acquired facial deformities (orthognathic surgery), paediatric oral & maxillofacial surgery, and surgically assisted oral rehabilitation.
Offering a broad range of services for both adults and children, Mr. Woods conducts assessments and diagnoses diseases of the mouth and face. He performs surgical procedures for benign pathology of the jaws, pre-orthodontic surgery, and removal of complex and impacted teeth, including wisdom teeth and jaw cysts. Additionally, he provides guidance and surgical intervention for bone grafting to the jaws to facilitate dental implant placement.
Mr. Woods began his career by qualifying as a Dentist from St Bart's and the Royal London Hospital in 2002. Subsequently, he underwent training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, General Dental Practice, and Special Care Dentistry. Later, he pursued medical training at UCL and the Royal Free Medical School, obtaining his medical qualification in 2009. Following this, he completed junior surgical training posts across various specialties before embarking on higher surgical training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in the South Thames Region. This rigorous training included placements in Level 1 Trauma centres and Regional Head and Neck Cancer centres.
Continuing his professional development, Mr. Woods completed fellowships in Craniofacial Surgery at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and Maxillofacial Surgery at St George's Hospital, London. These experiences provided invaluable expertise in managing complex facial deformities.
Throughout his career, Mr. Woods has contributed to peer-reviewed journals and textbooks. Currently, he serves as an Assigned Educational Supervisor, furthering the education and training of future generations in his specialty.

I booked an appointment with Dr Woods to get a second opinion regarding my TMD and the treatment options provided to me. Dr Woods went into great detail explaining all the nitty gritty anatomical details, treatment options, and considerations I would need to keep in mind and also reaffirmed the other surgeon’s treatment plan. He also offered to write a letter outlining his recommendations which will be invaluable for the treatment claims process. We would have been very keen to go with Dr Woods for the actual surgery but he advised us to stick with the original surgeon who specialises particularly in TMD. He was extremely professional, patient, and very knowledgeable about the ins and outs of all our questions about the procedure. I would absolutely recommend him if you’re on the lookout
I was late to my appointment and Mr Woods waited and then gracefully welcomed me into his practice. He took his time explaining the medical diagnosis and opened way for discussion on next steps together. Highly recommend.

Great consultation from Martin but terrible communication from receptionist as I have had to ring multiple times and have had no surgery date which is extremely disaspointing
