Dr. Martin Scurr

Dr. Martin Scurr is a General Practitioner and Palliative Care Specialist, currently associated with King Edward VII's Hospital. With a keen focus on diagnostic medicine, he is dedicated to ensuring that his patients receive swift and accurate diagnoses, underpinning his commitment to high-quality patient care.

Educated at Stonyhurst College and Westminster Medical School, Dr. Scurr commenced his private general practice in central London in 1977. Over the years, he has made significant contributions to the field, notably serving as the inaugural Medical Director of St John’s Hospice at the Hospital of St John & Elizabeth and subsequently being appointed as Physician to Westminster Cathedral.

In 2003, Dr. Scurr was appointed Chairman of the Independent Doctors Forum, and he later extended his influence by contributing a weekly column to the Daily Mail. Throughout his long-standing practice in Notting Hill, he has remained a staunch advocate for continuity of care and the essential principles of cradle-to-grave service, values that have been central to general practice since before the inception of the NHS.

After a brief period of retirement, the increasing pressures on GP care during the pandemic prompted Dr. Scurr to return to active practice. His return has enabled him to continue his lifelong dedication to patient care and to support the community with his extensive experience and expertise.
