About Mr Marc-James Hallam

Mr Marc-James Hallam is a Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon with expertise in breast surgery, complex skin cancer management and reconstructive procedures. His clinical interests include microsurgical breast reconstruction and a broad range of cosmetic and reconstructive treatments involving the breast, body and skin.

His breast surgery practice encompasses augmentation, reduction, uplift procedures, lipomodelling and reconstruction following mastectomy. He also performs body contouring procedures, including abdominoplasty and liposuction, as well as surgery to remove excess skin following significant weight loss. Other areas of his practice include the assessment and removal of skin lesions, skin cancer surgery, blepharoplasty and scar revision.

Mr Hallam graduated from the University of Southampton in 2004 before undertaking specialist plastic surgery training in London. During a two-year research fellowship, he conducted a randomised controlled trial investigating a novel treatment designed to reduce scarring in breast surgery, earning a Doctor of Medicine by Research from Imperial College London. He later continued his surgical training in Aberdeen and Edinburgh, obtaining Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery. Further fellowship training in Manchester provided extensive experience in the surgical removal and reconstruction of complex skin, sarcoma and breast cancers.

Medical education and research are also important aspects of his career. He teaches and mentors medical students, supervises academic projects and has published more than 30 research articles and textbook chapters. His research has been presented at international surgical conferences, and he maintains a particular interest in improving wound healing, minimising scarring and supporting patient recovery through quality improvement initiatives.

A member of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, Mr Hallam places importance on understanding each patient's individual concerns and expectations. His approach involves thorough consultations, personalised surgical planning and ongoing support throughout treatment and recovery.
