Mr Glancz was appointed as a substantive Consultant Neurosurgeon at the Queen's Medical Centre (QMC), Nottingham, in March 2023. He is nationally recognised for his expertise in skull base surgery through his appointment to the national skull base chordoma and chondrosarcoma multidisciplinary team (MDT) and his recognition by the Chordoma Foundation as one of only four UK neurosurgery experts in the management of skull base chordoma. He is currently the only UK consultant neurosurgeon who is a member of the North American Skull Base Society. He is the Regional Lead for Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery for the East Midlands and is one of only two neurosurgeons in the region providing vestibular schwannoma and pituitary surgery. His NHS practice at Queen's Medical Centre focuses on the highly specialised management of patients with complex and often rare tumours and abnormalities affecting the skull base, brain, orbit, pituitary gland and craniovertebral junction. He employs the latest minimally invasive endoscopic techniques alongside traditional microsurgical approaches, tailoring the surgical strategy to each patient's individual condition. He also has a specialist interest in neurovascular compression syndromes, particularly hemifacial spasm and trigeminal neuralgia, together with a complementary general neurosurgical practice that includes the management of degenerative spinal disorders. Mr Glancz trained in London, Nottingham and Manchester, including completion of the Royal College of Surgeons-approved Neuro-oncology Fellowship in Nottingham and the Manchester Skull Base Fellowship, providing dual fellowship training in complex cranial tumour and skull base surgery. Throughout his career he has received more than 30 awards, the majority at national level, recognising his clinical, academic and research achievements. Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Glancz maintains a strong academic profile, having authored more than 40 publications and delivered numerous presentations at national and international scientific meetings. Within six months of his consultant appointment he was awarded an Honorary Assistant Professorship at the University of Nottingham in recognition of his academic contributions. Mr Glancz accepts referrals from consultants, GPs and patients throughout the UK for skull base, pituitary and cranial nerve disorders, together with vestibular schwannomas and selected complex cranial conditions within his areas of specialist expertise. He also provides specialist second opinions for these conditions, offering expert assessment and personalised treatment recommendations.

Mr GlanzyExplained everything fully and completely to me and put my mind completely at ease about my upcoming operation
Really appreciate the time that Mr Glancz gave. Answered all my questions thoroughly and was able to address my concerns. Really happy with the service provided and care
My recent telephone appointment went well. Mr Glancz was polite and professional.
I cannot thank Mr Glancz enough, he has been truly amazing from pre operation to post operation and my yearly monitoring. Pre operation, my fears were beyond frightening, as soon as I met Mr Glancz, those fears were not so frightening. He is absolutely wonderful, his kindness, his professionalism and his wonderful kindness and calming aura were/are just outstanding. I have been truly blessed to have had Mr Glancz for my surgery, I thank him from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such kind and heartfelt words. I’m particularly pleased that I was able to provide some reassurance at what was understandably a frightening time, and that you have continued to feel well supported throughout your care. It has been a privilege to look after you, and I greatly appreciate your lovely feedback.
He explained the diagnosis and the care plan in language i could understand without being condescending. He answered all my questions fully and indepth.
From the moment we met Mr Laurence Glancz, the tone of the entire appointment shifted from fear and uncertainty to clarity and genuine hope. He was friendly, calm, and completely straightforward — exactly what you want when you’re sitting there with your father, trying to understand a tumour diagnosis that has turned your world upside down. He didn’t rush us, didn’t hide behind medical jargon, and didn’t sugar‑coat anything. Instead, he laid out the situation step by step, explained the type of tumour, the risks, the surgical options, and the realistic outcomes. Every question we asked was answered with data, experience, and confidence. You could tell instantly that he knows this field inside out. What stood out most was his balance: he was honest about the seriousness of the condition, but he also gave us real hope. Not false reassurance — real, evidence‑based hope backed by his expertise in skull base and tumour surgery. He made a complex situation feel manageable, and for the first time since this started, we walked out feeling like we had a clear path forward. His manner with my father was exceptional. Respectful, patient, and genuinely caring. He made sure my dad understood everything, and he spoke to him like a human being, not a case file. That alone made a huge difference. Leaving the appointment, we felt informed, supported, and confident that we’re in the hands of someone who not only has the skill, but also the humanity you need in moments like this. It was a genuinely excellent experience, and we’re grateful for the clarity and hope he gave us.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write such thoughtful and kind feedback. I know how overwhelming a meningioma diagnosis can be for patients and their families, so I’m particularly pleased that you both left the consultation feeling informed, supported and with a clear way forward. Your generous words are greatly appreciated.
I was my pleasure to play a small part in helping Laurence with his spinal training prior to his appointment as a Consultant several years ago He has outstanding surgical skills and an excellent bed side manner. Now I often refer patients to him and have every confidence in recommending him to anyone requiring neurosurgery and especially spinal surgery.

Mr Yujay Ramakrishnan
ENT SurgeonI have worked closely with Mr Glancz for four years, and he is the neurosurgeon I turn to first for my pituitary and skull base tumour patients. In that time, he has consistently achieved excellent outcomes, including in cases that many surgeons would consider too complex to take on. What distinguishes him is not only technical skill but judgement: he is meticulous, deliberate, and thorough in his assessment of every patient. I refer patients to him with complete confidence.
