Mr Laurence Glancz

Mr Laurence Glancz is a Consultant Neurosurgeon with subspecialist expertise in skull base and pituitary surgery. Appointed as a substantive consultant at the Queen's Medical Centre in 2023, he provides highly specialised care for patients with complex tumours and abnormalities affecting the brain, orbit, and craniovertebral junction. Mr Glancz is uniquely distinguished in his field as the only UK consultant neurosurgeon currently holding membership in the North American Skull Base Society. He established his clinical foundation through training in London, Nottingham, and Manchester, completing both the Royal College of Surgeons-approved Neuro-oncology Fellowship in Nottingham and the Manchester Skull Base Fellowship to acquire dual fellowship training in complex cranial tumour and skull base surgery.

His clinical practice is at the forefront of surgical innovation, employing both minimally invasive endoscopic techniques and traditional microsurgical approaches to tailor treatments to each patient's needs. Mr Glancz is a recognised authority on rare conditions, being one of only four neurosurgery experts in the UK identified by the Chordoma Foundation for expertise in managing skull base chordoma. In addition to serving as the Regional Lead for Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery for the East Midlands, he maintains a strong clinical focus on neurovascular compression syndromes, particularly trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm. Throughout his career, he has received over 30 national awards for his clinical and research contributions and maintains a robust academic profile, having authored more than 40 scientific publications and delivered over 50 national and international conference presentations.
