Dr Lakshmi Harihar

Dr Lakshmi Harihar is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist who specialises in the non-surgical management of cancer, focusing primarily on head and neck malignancies as well as breast cancers. She is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to the specific needs of each patient. Working closely as part of a multidisciplinary team, Dr Harihar delivers comprehensive clinical evaluations, personalised treatment planning, and holistic support throughout every stage of the cancer care pathway.

In her clinical practice, Dr Harihar utilises advanced oncological modalities, including chemotherapy, targeted systemic therapies, and precision radiotherapy techniques such as stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR). Her clinical scope encompasses both curative-intent treatment protocols and palliative care aimed at alleviating symptoms and preserving quality of life for patients with advanced or recurrent conditions. Beyond direct patient care, Dr Harihar is actively involved in clinical research and clinical governance projects aimed at enhancing treatment safety and therapeutic outcomes.

Dr Harihar completed her undergraduate medical training at the University of Cambridge, graduating with her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBChir) in 2010, having previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2007 and a Master of Arts in 2011. She subsequently completed a Master of Science in Oncology at the Institute of Cancer Research and the University of London in 2018, alongside a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education from the University of Dundee in 2018. She achieved Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2012 and Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists in 2018. Additionally, Dr Harihar holds Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (2014) and Membership of the Academy of Medical Educators (2020), reflecting her formal commitment to postgraduate medical education and training.
