About Dr. Kully Sandhu

I am a consultant cardiologist specialising in
coronary and structural intervention at Liverpool Heart and Chest hospital
LHCH. I see patients experiencing palpitations, chest pains and valvular heart
disease.

I perform coronary artery interventions including
diagnostic coronary angiograms, intra coronary imaging and stents. My area of
interest is Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation TAVI. I helped to set up
the Transcatheter Edge to Edge Repair TEER of the mitral valve in 2022 a
potential treatment option for patients unable to undergo conventional
open-heart surgery for leaky mitral or tricuspid valves. I am also involved
with and perform other structural interventions.

I completed my cardiology training in the West
Midlands Deanery followed by a year as a coronary interventional fellow at
Queens Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham a quaternary cardiac transplant centre.
This was followed by a TAVI and structural fellowship at LHCH and subsequently
was appointed as a consultant in 2020.

I undertook a period of post graduate research at
Royal Stoke University Hospital and obtained a Doctor of Medicine DM from
University of Keele. I continue my research interest with participation in
national clinic trials.

I am actively involved in teaching and training both
locally and nationally. Locally by teaching our PCI and TAVI fellows and
Liverpool University Medical students in case based as well as bedside teaching
sessions. I am an honorary Clinic lecturer for the School of Medicine, University
of Liverpool and at the faculty of Health, Innovation, Technology and Science
at Liverpool John Moores University. Nationally I have been teaching
TAVI implantation at the British Cardiovascular Society Manchester simulation
area. I have been an invited speaker in number of national and international
conferences.

I am an Advanced Life Support ALS instructor and one
of the medical directors for ALS courses. I teach on the Resuscitation and
Acute Catheter Laboratory Emergencies REACT course. This hands-on training
course for cardiac catheter laboratory staff in dealing with emergencies during
cardiac procedures. I have completed Postgraduate Certificate in Workplace
Based Postgraduate Medical Education Edge Hill University.

My commitment to providing high standard of care was
recognised by being granted 1 award by the employer based Clinical Excellence
Awards Committee. I am also privileged to have been elected as a Fellow of the
Royal College of physicians FRCP.
