My appointment at (Practice Name) (check the message you send out!) felt rushed. A visit to the dentist is a nerve racking experience at any time for many people - my dentist finds fault with my teeth at every visit - faults that always need expensive rectification. For approximately ten years, my dentist has been telling me of the doom I could experience with a legacy root canal if it is not re-worked - as yet, it has given me no trouble. A recent tactic is to insist on firstly a hygienist visit and when I resisted that (considering electric toothbrush and floss sufficient cleaning), my dentist advised a deep clean - apparently now a process requiring deadening of the gums! At my most recent visit my dentist advised that if some action, in response to gum disease, wasn't taken my teeth would eventually fall out. Fact ultimately perhaps, but this really is not the kind of language to put a patient at ease. Additionally, my dentist told me a tooth she filled at my most recent visit may cause discomfort for up to eight weeks - anything beyond that means 'the nerve is dying'. Again AN outcome perhaps but until that happens, not the kind of language I ever wish to hear again so soon after the trauma of injection and filling and it's a statement I find totally unacceptable. In my opinion, monitoring of my dentist's patient interaction and retraining may improve their bedside manner by 'softening the blow' and make visits more bearable than currently where moral feels distinctly dented post treatment. I hope you find this constructive.
