About Mr Omar Ahmed
Mr Omar Ahmed is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon with more than 30 years of experience in plastic and reconstructive surgery. He has been an NHS consultant since 2005 and currently works at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Mr Ahmed specialises in cosmetic surgery, reconstructive surgery, and skin cancer treatment, with clinical interests spanning facial surgery, head and neck surgery, facial reanimation surgery, oculoplastic surgery, cosmetic breast surgery, and non-surgical cosmetic treatments. He performs a wide range of procedures including rhinoplasty, facelifts, neck lift, eyelid surgery, liposuction, breast augmentation and reduction, tummy tuck, and microsurgical reconstruction.

Mr Ahmed graduated MBBS from the University of Punjab in 1987 and holds fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd, 1994) and the Intercollegiate Board in Plastic Surgery (FRCS Plast, 2000). He is on the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and of the Intercollegiate Board in Plastic Surgery. His professional memberships include the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), the British Association of Head and Neck Oncologists (BAHNO), the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM), the World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (WSRM), the European Association of Plastic Surgeons (EURAPS), and the British Medical Association.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Ahmed is the Chair of the BAPRAS Communications Committee and Chair of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh Surgical Specialty Board in Plastic Surgery. He has published more than 50 clinical papers and book chapters and remains actively involved in research and education.

I was booked in to have a abdominalplasty with Mr Omar Ahmed and his team at Spire Washington. From the moment I entered the hospital everything was fantastic from the staff to the food. The procedure and recovery was explained to me in detail so I knew exactly what to expect. I was put at ease by my consultant and staff from the onset. After my operation I was looked after impeccably by every member of staff. Before I was discharged I was given all the information I needed to continue my ongoing care at home also with the support of the team as they were only at the end of the phone. My experience was faultless and would strongly recommend Mr Omar and Spire Hospital.

Mr Ahmed was very professional and friendly, he gave valuable advice to help with my condition. He explained the treatment and took into consideration my concerns. There were 2 young doctors with him and he talked through the process to them which hopefully help them with patient's in the future.
Mr Ahmed is incredibly knowledgeable, understanding and approachable with a clear dedication for his field. I have suffered with facial palsy for many years, since a tumour resection and I feel very lucky that Mr Ahmed is my consultant for this. Today’s visit was no different and I came away feeling listened to and understood. He is constantly looking for new ways to help and you can tell that this is important to him.

My experience for my procedure was one of the most outstanding experiences I have encountered during my life. All staff were very clear and concise from start to finish. The treatment and care from all staff was excellent. All staff were very professional and treat me with respect and care throughout the whole process. This includes the receptionist right through to the surgeon.
