Mr Junaid Masood

Mr Junaid Masood is a Consultant Urological Surgeon who practises at Spire Gatwick Park Hospital, Spire London East Hospital and North Downs Hospital in Caterham. He also holds an NHS post at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. He has more than 14 years of consultant-level experience and his main areas of practice are in endourology, stone disease, urinary tract obstruction, lower urinary tract symptoms and general urology.

His clinical expertise includes minimally invasive management of urinary tract stones, carrying out complex ureteroscopy and percutaneous nephrolithotomy. He regularly performs percutaneous surgery for large kidney stones, as well as flexible and rigid ureteroscopy and laser surgery. He has significant experience in metallic urinary stenting for ureteric obstruction caused by malignancy, and he manages patients with lower urinary tract symptoms, benign prostatic hyperplasia, incontinence and haematuria. His practice also includes metabolic evaluation for kidney stone prevention and general diagnostic urology.

Mr Masood is involved in national and international teaching and has run courses in advanced endourological techniques and metallic long-term stenting. He has co-edited a textbook on urinary stents and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals. His academic work includes more than 100 publications and over 250 national and international presentations.

He completed his medical degree at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, University of London, obtaining MBBS in 1995. His further qualifications include FRCS (Eng), MSc (Urol) and FRCS (Urol). He is a member of the General Medical Council, the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the British Medical Association and MDDUS.
